Kairah Askani Lee is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and a 2020 graduate of Clemson University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal and Veterinary Science with a minor in Business Administration.

From a young age, Kairah’s dream has always been to become a veterinarian or to work closely with animals in any capacity. During her time at Clemson, she gained hands-on experience working with a variety of animals—including horses, cows, and chickens—and discovered the wide range of opportunities available in the field of animal and veterinary sciences.

​

In her freshman year, Kairah joined the Women in Animal and Veterinary Science (WAVS) Program, a living and learning community designed for women aspiring to enter veterinary medicine. This program allowed her to connect with fellow students, network with professionals in the field, and participate in various animal science events on campus. Her time at Clemson was transformative—academically, mentally, and physically—and helped reinforce her passion for animal care.

After graduating, Kairah worked as a Veterinary Assistant at Banfield Pet Hospital from 2020 to 2022. During this time, she was responsible for maintaining patient flow, communicating with veterinarians and technicians regarding pet care, assisting with basic procedures, and upholding hospital standards that ensure pets’ safety and cleanliness. This role further strengthened her skills in animal handling and hospital operations.

In 2021, Kairah began her journey to become a Professional Pet Groomer through PetSmart’s Pet Grooming Program. There, she learned to properly assess dogs’ coats, skin, teeth, and nails, master grooming techniques such as hand-scissoring and clipper work, and identify breed-specific grooming needs. Since completing the program, she has groomed a wide variety of breeds, including Yorkies, Schnauzers, German Shepherds, Poodles, Pomeranians, and Cocker Spaniels. Pet grooming, she believes, is her true calling—where she can combine her love for animals with her talent for making them look and feel their best, while also meeting the expectations of pet parents.

Kairah also connects with animals through Rover, a platform that allows her to house sit, walk, and drop in on pets. Her responsibilities include feeding, administering medication, ensuring pets’ comfort, and offering companionship and love while their owners are away.

Her love for animals doesn’t stop there. While working at Banfield, Kairah noticed a recurring theme: many pets’ health issues were linked to what they ate. She observed the dangers of common “treats” like pepperoni, bacon, hot dogs, and chicken bones—foods often given with love but not always safe. Motivated by this insight, Kairah has embarked on a mission to create healthy, delicious, and safe treats for pets—treats that reflect the love pet parents feel while supporting their pets' health and wellbeing.

Through every phase of her journey, Kairah has remained committed to improving the lives of animals and finding new ways to serve the pet community. Her experiences reflect not only her dedication, but her passion and creativity in the world of animal care.

Kairah’s journey in animal care is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a drive to make a lasting impact on the lives of pets and their families. Whether through grooming, pet sitting, or developing nutritious treats, she is dedicated to ensuring animals feel loved, cared for, and valued. As she continues to grow in her career, Kairah remains committed to exploring new opportunities that allow her to blend her expertise with her lifelong passion for animals—always with their health and happiness at heart.
